Two hundred and seventy five attendees were on hand at the University of Southern California for two days of in-depth discussions with the best and brightest of the sports media business. More than sixty broadcasting professionals graced the stage including Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks, star talents Colin Cowherd, Jim Rome, Mina Kimes, Joy Taylor, Rachel Nichols, Rob Parker, Evan Cohen, Mason & Ireland, Matt ‘Money’ Smith, and WWE superstar turned SVP of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels.
Eighteen sessions were part of the 2023 Summit including two awards ceremonies, which recognized Al Michaels, Jay Glazer, Julie Talbott and Jimmy Powers. Programmers and media executives were involved as well with Bruce Gilbert, Logan Swaim, Mike Davis, Jimmy Powers, Raj Sharan, Jon Goulet, Mitch Rosen, Jeff Rickard, Matt Fishman, John Mamola, Sean Thompson, Danny Zederman, and Amanda Brown taking part in the show. The ‘Kickoff Party’ originated from the 1880 Founders Room and was presented by WWE. The After-Party was held at the Lab Gastropub and presented by ESPN Radio.

2022 BSM Summit in New York City:
After being sidelined the prior year by the pandemic, the Summit returned to NYC with an action packed schedule at the Anne Bernstein Theater. More than two hundred professionals were on hand to hear fifty eight industry pro’s take the stage, including top names such as ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, WFAN afternoon host Craig Carton, 98.5 The Sports Hub hosts Fred Toucher & Mike Felger, Meadowlark Media CEO John Skipper, and the iconic team of Mike & The Mad Dog featuring Mike Francesa and Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.
2020 BSM Summit in New York City:
Two hundred fifty members of the sports media industry came together at the Alvin Ailey Theater for two days of deep discussion and education. Sixty nine professionals were featured on stage, including Barstool Sports CEO Erika Nardini, WFAN morning host Gregg Giannotti, ESPN talents Paul Finebaum & Bomani Jones, Barstool Sports host Kevin ‘KFC’ Clancy, and a number of sports radio programming executives.
A total of sixteen sessions and two awards ceremonies were presented at the 2020 BSM Summit. Pat McAfee received an award along with Dan Mason, Mitch Rosen, Keith Murray and Andy Fales. The popular media host was also on hand for the Summit’s first ever ‘Kickoff’ bash, which occurred the evening before the conference began. In addition to the ESPN Radio After Party, key areas covered during the two day event were podcasting growth, the future of sports betting, national networks, media warfare, keys to effective programming, imaging, research, sports radio’s future thru the eyes of top talent, social media strategy, thirty money making ideas, and more.
2019 BSM Summit in Los Angeles:
The sports radio industry flocked to Los Angeles’ Grammy Museum for the 2019 BSM Summit. A total of 62 speakers took the stage including a number of industry executives, programmers and high profile talents to discuss the past, present and future of the sports format. Among the notable names were Colin Cowherd, Jim Rome, Jason Whitlock, Marcellus Wiley, Ramona Shelburne, Steve Wyche, Bruce Feldman, Evan Cohen, and Mason & Ireland.
The two day event covered everything from talent management to podcasting, play by play, the dangers of social media, the format’s lack of female talent, topical imaging, digital audio sales, advertiser’s hot buttons, and tactical and strategic planning.
The 2019 Summit also featured the introduction of two awards. The first named after Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan and presented to longtime agent and radio executive Kraig Kitchin. The second in honor of Tony Bruno went to FOX Sports Radio host Clay Travis and included a speech on Bruno’s impact on the business by FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks.
2018 BSM Summit Chicago:
The debut conference assembled by BSM took place in the windy city at the BlueCross BlueShield Performance Stage located inside the offices of Entercom Chicago. The private two day event started small with 40-50 executives and programmers in the room, analyzing ways to advance the industry.
Among the notable personalities involved were Sarah Spain, Jason Goff, David Kaplan, Danny Parkins, Laurence Holmes, and Joe Ostrowski. The conference also featured 15 PD’s on stage, and panel involvement from Action Network’s Chad Millman, VSiN’s Bill Adee, Edison Research’s Larry Rosin, and Nielsen’s Jon Miller.
